Ship's navigational resistance is the force acting on the ship's hull to stop the ship's movement when it is sailing. It includes air resistance and water resistance. In general civil ships, air resistance is only 2% ~ 4% of the total resistance. Water resistance includes two parts, one is protruding outside the hull of the rudder, shaft and batch of keel by the additional resistance; the second is the hull itself by the resistance that bare resistance. Additional resistance generally accounts for only 3% ~ 10% of the total resistance.
